Rainy Day Spring Break

I'm bored. There are so many things that I should be doing, but I've been taking online personality tests, finding out about my horoscope, and painting a reproduction of a ukieyo-e print. It's only after noon. Ah. So, here are my results:
INTP: The Architect (also the Thinker). "Of all the role variants, Architects have the greatest ability to analyze the world in depth.Of all the role variants, Architects are the most logically and verbally precise. This can make Architects seem arrogant to others." I used to be the Scientist, what gives?
Sagittarius: The Archer (western horoscope).
"Sagittarians are usually modest and often spiritual, with strong values. They are profound thinkers, and are gifted with foresight and good judgment..prone are anger - they tend to flare up over trifles."
The Dragon (eastern horoscope):
A symbol of good fortune and sign of intense power, the Oriental Dragon is regarded as a divine beast. Because they are confident, fearless in the face of challenge, they are almost inevitably successful. However, Dragon people be aware of their natures. Too much enthusiasm can leave them tired and unfulfilled.

Wow, you are a Ninja! It's easy to picture you hiding in the trees for hours at a time, flying through the air to uppercut the bad guy, or maybe just stealthily replacing the toilet paper when it runs out. You're that kind of awesome.

The Sex Test: The results of the test suggest that you are very open-minded when it comes to sexuality. You seem to welcome new experiences within the realm of sex and even if you aren't comfortable with a particular ingredient of sex, you are very nonjudgmental of those who indulge themselves.

It's been a while!

So much has happened since I last checked in. Christmas, New Year, my Grandma died, Britney went crazy and I went back to work. But what did I learn?
I must listen to people. I need to stand, or sit, or slouch and turn off the inner voice and simply listen. For instance, this Christmas I hosted my family and my husband's parents at my house. The only way I coped with this potentially disastrous situation is that I disconnected. I just let everyone do what they needed to do and stayed out of their way, which is the same thing I do every Christmas regardless of location. Lots of people, in cowboy parlance, put me off my feed but I should have listened to their stories nevertheless. My boys have so much to talk about and I don't listen, my husband, my students; I tell them what to think or do.
On the other hand, I rocked the eulogy I wrote for Grandma's service and my students this semester are this close to falling under my spell.

Of Eating and Indians

Oh, Thanksgiving. The splendors of cream cheese, the dance macabre of salt and sugar. Actually I really like Thanksgiving. I like the idea of doing nothing but eating, and nowadays, shopping as well. I suppose it's what people have always done around this time of year. The native Americans don't celebrate Thanksgiving and why should they? I grew up with Indian kids; I love their cultures and sympathize with their misgivings. The Indians are so wild and lovely and intelligent and the European immigrants have treated them unfairly. These peoples continue to share what little possessions they have, they give their time and effort to anyone who asks, they are honest. I wish our mutual histories could have been different.
